C’est un lieu d’obsédante douleur et d’effarement constant. On n’ose pas regarder. On n’ose pas respirer. Des douleurs vous transpercent comme des épées. Et lorsque les oiseaux arrivèrent à cette vallée, elle disparut, les laissant confus, désemparés et inquiets. Ils attendaient et réfléchissaient : « Nous avons volé trop loin, nous ne pourrons pas revenir en arrière ! ». « Allons, oiseaux ! Revenir en arrière n’a pas de sens. Le sang des bêtes sacrifiées coulent encore, aujourd’hui, dans la vallée de Bouregreg. Il gorge les terres, nourrit le sable et les plantes sèches, il se mêle à l’ocre des poussières puis dévale les sous-sols, les cavités, les nappes libres et captives où l’eau stagne, attend l’épuisement, et vient nourrir les roseaux qui parlent. Quand on lève les yeux, les chemins s'épandent comme des veines et donnent le sentiment que le sang vif, jailli du col des bêtes, lie les terres et les histoires. Un jour de printemps, paraît-il, la Bête s’est arrêtée, épuisée, mille-pattes retournée sans secours, ventre luisant immobile. Les mains des hommes ne suffisaient plus à lui donner corps, à retourner la terre, à changer les apparences des paysages, à la faire émerger, elle, la Bête, monstre de fer et de bêton, incarnation vigoureuse du temps à venir, de la modernité gonflée du Royaume. Alors, le Roi a décidé de conjurer le sort, de faire couler le sang des bêtes, de gorger la terre à son tour et de retrouver les racines pourpres de la tradition. Ce jour-là, on a sacrifié des veaux et déclamé le coran. Et, ce jour-là, la Bête s’est ranimée, pour ne jamais se rendormir. Le long du sol, là où la Bête a planté ses racines, on peut suivre la ridelle timide du sang vermeille des veaux et voir le coup d’arrêt, tranchant, ténu, d’un pan brumeux de bêton. Cette fois-ci, le sang ne rejoindra pas la vallée ni les sous-sols, ni le village de la Grand-mère, il restera coi, sans avenir, sans profondeur, et il finira par cailler au soleil. ⌈…⌋ <img
